This three night walking experience stays at an exclusive private eco-camp that offers a level of detailed service, panoramic scenery, comfort as well as gourmet food and wine which brings new meaning to the concept of luxury walking experiences in Australia. The four day trip includes 3 days of walking and allows you the time to relax and immerse yourself in the natural world around you.

Set in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range just outside Brisbane, and surrounded by World Heritage listed National Parks, the Scenic Rim region is renowned for its exquisite natural beauty. The combination of rainforests, ancient volcanic plateaus, mountains, ridges, escarpments, forests as well as scenic wining and dining options has helped the Scenic Rim to quickly gain a reputation as one of Australia's most sought after gourmet walking experiences. With an abundance of unique Australian plants, native animals and distinctive vegetation types, this exciting trail embraces a region which is littered with the legend of the early pioneers who tried to make a living from the harsh but beautiful country. Your local guide will help interpret the land and its stories during each walk.

Day 1
Join journey transfer to Mt Mitchell commence walk

Your journey starts at our meeting point on our private property at 7791 Cunningham Highway, Clumber, 4309. If you have elected to self-drive, please make your way to the above address, to meet the rest of the group and your Scenic Rim Trail guides at 8:00am on the morning of your departure. If you have pre-booked a transfer from Spicers Balfour Hotel, please be there no later than 6:30am (transfer can be arranged for a supplement). You’ll start your journey with a vehicle transfer to the Main Range National Park. The walk starts on Australia’s Great Dividing Range. Today we ascend Mt Mathieson through World Heritage Listed Rainforest tracing the historic steps of early settlers. After lunch, walkers will cross into Spicers private land and descend into camp. Keeping your eyes peeled for wallabies, you will cross open woodland forest to Spicers Canopy at around 4pm. A warm welcome from our Camp Host and onsite Chef await along with freshly made afternoon tea and cold beverages. There is now time to unwind, relax on a bean bag or in the lounge, take a dip in the hot tub and have a hot shower before meeting your group back in the main lodge for your chef-prepared, and locally sourced, evening meal. Walking distance: 13 km Walking time: 7-8 hours

Day 2
Cooyoonirra Lookout

Today you’ll explore the private Nature Refuge and a remote section of the Main Range National Park, where very few public walkers get the chance to venture. Returning to the beautiful creek line we enjoy the morning birdsong and golden light trickling through the trees. Once we depart the creek we start our climb ascending along the ridgeline & up to our lunch spot, which offers magnificent views of the valley below. We keep our eyes peeled for the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo, which occasionally frequent this part of the property. Likewise koalas are known to be relaxing in the eucalypts above us. Returning to camp at approx. 3.30pm you’ll have the rest of the afternoon at your leisure before enjoying sunset drinks & a cheese platter by the fire. Dinner will follow soon after with tales of the day being shared around the table. Walking distance: 15km Walking time: 8 hours

Day 3
Explore Miller Vale Creek

Today offers a more leisurely walk with only 5km. We explore Miller Vale Creek a beautiful gorge like walk with enveloping rock walls and still billabongs. This creek is home to some very elusive platypus, it’s hard to see one but they are there. We have morning tea on the trail with lunch enjoyed back at camp followed by an afternoon of relaxation. Sunset drinks will once again be enjoyed in the lodge or at the outside fire pit (so long as there is no fire ban in place) before a relaxing dinner in the lodge. Walking distance: 6km Walking time: 3-4hours

Day 4
Trip concludes

Enjoy a slow start to the morning with an 8am breakfast. At 10am we will transfer you back to Clumber where we will wish you a very fond farewell & wonderful memories to take with you.
