  • Three days exploring the rooftop of Australia
  • Summit Mt Kosciuszko, Australia's highest mountain
  • Enjoy some of the best alpine walking in Australia

Known for its snow-covered peaks, glacial carved lakes, spring wildflowers and granite boulders, the Kosciuszko National Park is a wild and rugged landscape offering an unforgettable walking experience.

On this fully supported trek you will walk with just a day pack to explore the best sections of the world-class Snowies Alpine Walk. You will meander between majestic snow gums, walk alongside the mighty Snowy River and be amazed by the flora and fauna of this unique alpine ecosystem. As you walk on the roof of Australia you be rewarded with breath-taking panoramic views from the summit of Australia’s highest peak; Mount Kosciuszko (2,228m).

At the end of each day, you will relax at a cosy lodge at Charlotte Pass Village; one of Australia’s oldest snow resorts.

Trip Code: BSW

To join this trip you can self drive to Jindabyne or join the group transfer with a scheduled pick up from Sydney Central Train Station or Canberra Train Station. The group will meet at 12pm in Jindabyne, and enjoy a delicious lunch at the foot of Kosciuszko National Park. A transfer will bring the group to the quiet village of Guthega, above the dams of the Snowy Hydro Scheme, where we will start our afternoon walk. We will follow the mighty Snowy River all the way to Charlotte Pass. We will wander past the wombat highways, and tree hollows laden with crimson rosellas, through to the long-standing Illawong Hut and Illawong Suspension Bridge that is shouldered by granite giants. We continue following the new Snowy Alpine Trail through heathlands and across Australia’s highest altitude swing bridge, criss-crossing into ancient snow gum forests and mountain environments. Today's walk finishes amongst the majestic grandfather snow gums at Charlotte Pass. In fine weather, there is the option of continuing to explore Mount Stilwell, which looms over Charlotte Pass village and presents panoramic views of the main range. Overnight: Charlotte Pass. Walking distance: 9km (3 to 4 hours) + optional 4.5km walk (1.5 to 2 hours)

Meals:  L,D

Brace yourself for a longer day of walking! The first half hour of the walk today will present you with the challenge of crossing the stepping stones across the iconic Snowy River. Bring your crocs and a second pair of socks for this gentle crossing - you’ll likely stay dry but it is best to be prepared. Moving onwards and upwards to Blue Lake, Australia’s most famous glacial cirque lake, past the mighty Sentinel, and over the ridges of Australia's rooftops until you come to the summit of Australia’s highest point, Mount Kosciuszko, for a spot of lunch. After an epic traverse of Australia’s highest range, an easy 9km descent from the Kosci summit will take the group back to Charlotte Pass Village. Overnight: Charlotte Pass. Walking distance: 21km (7 to 8 hours)

Meals:  B,L,D

The final day of walking will start as you step out the door of your lodge, straight onto the Snowies Alpine Walk from Charlotte Pass to Perisher. You will wind your way through beautiful snowgum forest and alpine meadows. The stunning stone path guides you from one valley to the next and up to the towering boulders of the Porcupine Rocks. Lunch will be enjoyed on the trail with incredible views in all directions before concluding the walk at Perisher. From here it is a 40 minute drive to Jindabyne. The trip ends here for those who met the group in Jindabyne on our first day together. Walking distance: 13km (4 to 5 hours)
