 ASIA
We are passionate about Asia! From Japan's pilgrimage trails to Indonesia's volcanoes, to a Silk Road journey or cycling between Myanmar's temples, our range of active adventures is designed to be thought provoking and immersive as we encounter the region's various cultures, foods and landscapes.
Our experience in creating itineraries on foot or by bike is unrivalled. This pursuit started in 1978, when we pioneered the first commercial trips in China (you can now even cycle by e-bike) then Vietnam, in 1990, when it opened its doors. We also took the first trek in Mongolia, in 1980, and on the remote trails of Japan, in 1997. Yet we continue to refine and offer new and exciting opportunities every year in Asia to meet the aspirations of the inquisitive active traveller.
Building on this heritage, we are excited to unveil our new suite of self guided walks along Japan’s Nakasendo Way and Kumano Kodo. The latter also has guided departures, for those who prefer travelling with a group. There are also other new Japan walks to be tempted by. New, in China, is a superb trek into the mysterious Danxia Mountains. In Mongolia, we’ve introduced some fun cycle touring in the Khan Kentii National Park and a trekking itinerary in the Tavan Bogd massif. Over in Vietnam, our search for quieter trails could see you hiking the sublime Ha Giang Province or kayaking in Lan Ha Bay.
Family tailored trips, hill tribe village hikes, rides along rural backroads, cruises along the mighty Mekong and Irrawaddy Rivers, and historic journeys such as the Trans Siberian; whatever your interest we’re confident you’ll find a good quality adventure to share with a small group of like minded travellers.
Don’t forget, we can also customise your ‘dream’ Asian adventure with whatever inclusions and budget you desire. Just talk to us to see how easy it is to get started. We look forward to taking you on the paths less travelled.
