Today, we head south-west into the dramatic High Atlas Mountains and cross over the pass of Tizi n Test to the fertile plain of Souss. From the tiny Berber villages of the Oued Nfiss valley to the fast Argan tree forest on the southern slopes of the High Atlas, you will encounter varied landscape leading to the orange groves of Taroudante, a label of this area. In the afternoon, we visit the Medina and souks with a short tour of the city walls of Taroudante. Driving approx 4 hours Overnight: Riad Hida (or similar)

This morning we follow the road through the Anti Atlas to Foum Zguid where we’ll change to 4WD vehicles and take a wilderness drive across the desert to the Chegaga dunes. Tonight we’ll have a true desert experience, staying in a nomad camp. A walk up the dunes at sunset will enable us to capture the stunning changing colours of the desert and we’ll return to our camp to enjoy a night under the stars. Driving approx 6-7 hours Overnight Nomad Camp (nomad style tents with shared facilities)

After an optional walk up the dunes to capture the sunrise, we’ll have breakfast in camp before packing up and heading back across the desert to Mhamid. We’ll change out of our 4WD vehicles and continue to Zagora in the Draa Valley, stopping en-route in Tamgroute to visit the 15th Century Nassiria Library and Tamgroute pottery cooperative. Driving approx 4 hours Overnight Riad Lamane, Zagora (or similar)

This morning we drive to the earthen town of Ouarzazate which lies among the shadows of date and pomegranate trees on the banks of the Dades River before driving over the Tizi n Tichka and across the olive groves of Al Haouz to Marrakech. You will arrive into Marrakech at around 5pm where your journey ends. Driving approx 7 hours NOTE: Accommodation is not included on this night.
