  ACCOMMODATION
The majority of our adventures feature mid-range accom- modation that is very comfortable and well located for the African wilderness experience.
safari lodge | In game parks, National Parks and rural locations, we use properties that reflect the character of the area. They are generally one storey high (maximum two storeys) and will be a collection of individual bungalows or a series of adjoining rooms, based around a central main dining and lounge area.
riad | A traditional Moroccan house often located in the ancient medina (walled city) and usually includes an internal courtyard with a garden or water feature. Generally, all rooms are a different shape and size, which adds to their unique character. Riads range from elaborate traditional tiled decor to ultra modern furnishings.
permanent safari camp | Tented hotels perfect for experiencing the wilderness. Rooms are individual tents with built-in floors, doors and windows, with all you would expect from a hotel room, including ensuites. They're usually on a solid structure and may also have a solid roof. Guest tents are generally clustered around a central dining and lounge area. Power is either solar or by generator.
hotels | In cities and large towns you’ll stay at 3-4 star properties that are generally centrally located, atmospheric, reliable and proven for high-level traveller rating. In smaller towns, hotels may be simpler and the best available. Very occasionally hotels may have shared bathroom facilities. This category covers chalet-style apartments/cabins, which feature a lounge area with attached bedroom and bathroom.
mobile safari camps | We stay in national park sites, in private sites (fixed toilet facilities) or in private, bush sites in national parks, with shared bush ablutions. All camping equipment is generally provided. On fully serviced trips, the crew sets up camp. On semi-participation trips, you will help set up and pull down your tent and with camp chores.
bedouin camping | Permanent safari camps in the desert regions of North Africa and the Middle East, using traditional tents and decor. Bathroom facilities may be basic as water is scarce in the desert. Power is limited to specific hours and is usually by generator. At night, ambience is provided by the kerosene lanterns or candles.
