We have a long held philosophy that our operations throughout the world should be managed and operated by the people of the host country. By training and empowering them, we are able to create positive employment opportunities and a secure income, while our travellers hugely benefit from the authentic experience that they deliver. We’re very proud of our staff and guides and judging by all the positive feedback we receive each year, so are our travellers. Let us introduce some of them to you:
Elias Berehe | Elias has a degree in Education and previously worked as a teacher. However his passion for travel and learning new things saw him change careers and attain his tour guide diploma 6 years ago. He has
a friendly and sensitive nature and enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge of the cultural, social and historical gems of Ethiopia.
Anjela Tumaini | Anjela is one of our female guides on Kilimanjaro, breaking stereotypes
in this male dominated field. She first worked as a porter in 2012, and in the same year
made her first summit ascent and obtained
her guides license. Anjela has completed the National Parks and First Aid courses. She enjoys meeting clients from all around the world and encouraging them to reach the summit
Kembo Sithole | Starting life as a bank
teller in Bulawayo Zimbabwe, Kembo saw the light and began his safari career in Hwange National Park in 1998. Since then he has ‘grown’ to become one of our most popular Southern African guides. He has vast knowledge of fauna and flora and this with his excellent manner with people ensures he brings that something “extra” to our guest’s safari experience.
Phumuzile Ncube | Phumuzile was born
in Bulawayo Zimbabwe, and moved to South Africa to work in the hospitality industry and learn more about his passion for wildlife and nature. His love of the local cultures, beauty of nature and sense of humour make Phumuzile an excellent guide for Southern African safaris. In his spare time, he loves supporting local football.
Ian Williams | Ian lives and breathes the bush and is known as the "Africa Guru". It would be
a hard task to determine where Ian has not travelled in Africa over the past 40 years! He is a keen photographer and is passionate about all things African. His in-depth knowledge is integral to the itineraries he organises for our Africa private and school groups.
Dr Ross Anderson | Dr Ross lives with his wife in the Northern England's Lakes District. He
is a family doctor with a specialisation in high altitude wilderness medicine. He spends much of his spare time travelling as an expedition doctor. He is our medical consultant, advising on a whole range of matters, and he also conducts our annual Himalayan guides Wilderness First Aid training course in Kathmandu.
Ibrahim Al Wahsh | Ibrahim has more than 10 years experience in leading hiking, cultural, bird watching and biblical groups throughout Jordan and enjoys sharing his country with visitors. Holding a degree
in English Literature and Languages he speaks fluent English, French and Arabic. His enthusiastic and friendly nature in addition to his excellent knowledge ensures that your trip is a memorable experience.
Jackson Odhiambo | Jackson is from a
small village on the shores of Lake Victoria, Western Kenya. He has always admired East Africa’s environment & wildlife. Following in his uncle's footsteps, he has put his passion
to good use. Jackson became a driver & guide more than a decade ago and has clocked more than 500,000kms. He is a member of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association.
George Griffiths | George first started working as a guide in Namibia in 2006 and soon became a very much loved guide. His bright and friendly personality plus his years of experience make George a sought after guide. His ability to speak many of the local languages opens up doors when you travel with him.
Elisha Mushi | Elisha is constantly pushing the industry to a deeper and more meaningful place. He aims to provide travellers with much more than basic wildlife interpretation by tapping into his extensive experience of animal behaviour, making for an unforgettable wildlife experience. With a passion for birds and insects, Elisha ensures that even the smaller, less glamorous species get some attention.
Ibrahim Sicakyuz | Born in a small village of South-Eastern Turkey to semi-nomadic parents, Ibrahim went on to graduate in Physics Engineering before chasing the job of his dreams as a travel guide. Fluent in German and English, no mountain is too high for Ibrahim and he thrives in sharing his passion and knowledge for Turkey with travellers from around the world. When not guiding, you’ll find him outdoors practicing yoga.
Hamid Matovu | Hamid was born and raised in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Hamid has a deep understanding of the parks wildlife, flora and birdlife thanks to the knowledge he gained by following his father who served in the park for over 45 years. He went on to learn about all the national parks in Uganda and Rwanda and train at the Uganda Safari Guide’s Association. Hamid has a keen interest in the many different cultures of Uganda and Rwanda and sharing his insights with travellers.
Suddy Mungia | Suddy has worked as a driver guide in Tanzania for the last 16 years. He is a nature lover, with Tarangire National Park his preferred of all the parks. What Suddy enjoys most about his job is the ability to share his passion for Tanzania and to introduce travellers to its many treasures such as the Martial Eagle, his favourite animal.
Boubker Boutkhoum | Boubker is an economics graduate with a passion for trekking and guiding was literally born in
the Berber village where he was raised. After university Boubker chose a life in the outdoors, completing this mountain guide training in 2008, where we can share his local knowledge and treat travellers to the remote and exceptional sights Morocco.
Fhurisco Olinandrasana | Fhurisco has been a national guide in Madagascar for over 10 years. He is passionate about his country’s unique fauna and flora, especially birds
and the country’s famous lemurs. His vast experience in leading hikes and extensive local knowledge makes him an excellent guide for our Madagascar adventures.
Enock Bwambale | Enock was born in the foothills of the Rwenzoris. He is an experienced chief guide with over 170 trips to high summit peaks. Starting as a porter and pathfinder, cutting new routes such as the Kilembe Trail, he has undertaken numerous rope, glacier, rescue and evauation courses to supplement his innate knowledge of the mountains.
