As a traveller, you can make a difference simply by the choices you make. As a leader in responsible travel initiatives, we aim to empower travellers with ideas on how you can be part of the solution. The aim is to – collectively – make our planet a better place and encourage you to see the world ... as a 'thoughtful traveller'.
           GIVING BACK TO COMMUNITIES
SUPPORTING ANIMAL WELFARE
The World Expeditions Foundation [WEF] raises funds for grass-roots community development projects in impoverished communities around the world.
The funds we raise through WEF are used to finance Community Development Projects. These projects aim to improve access to education, in communities around the world, in the belief that education is the pathway out of poverty.
The best animal encounter is a wild one. We do not support riding elephants and avoid many sites or festivals where we believe animals are being treated cruelly.
Over the past decade our travellers have raised more than AUD$280,000 for the Free the Bears Fund, which has funded the following projects: the best veterinary clinic in South East Asia located in Phnom Tamao, the Bear Discovery Education Centre in Cambodia, the release of more than 25 dancing bears in India, three night dens in the India rehabilitation centre and three vehicles in India to help transfer between the two rehabilitation centres in India.
It has also contributed to full renovations in the Luang Prabang and Phnom Penh rehabilitation centres.
