We're taking you behind the scenes of Sir Edmund Hillary's long-term filmmaker, Michael Dillon, who has captured and witnessed world-first achievements.

Through video clips, stills and his engaging wit, Michael will take you on some of the most exciting, grandest and unusual expeditions he has filmed over the past 50 years. He'll take you on a climb to Everest three distinct ways including from sea level and hear firsthand about teammate Lincoln Hall’s miraculous survival. He’ll share the adventures of legendary Sir Edmund Hillary, including his near fatal attempt to climb the River Ganges by jet boat and foot.

Join the award-winning director and cinematographer for a special one-off talk as he shares his insights as well as never before shown footage and still photographs.

Hear about the iconic sea to summit expedition with Tim Macartney-Snape, travels from Buckingham Palace to the Sydney Opera house by London cab, the world's highest dinner party and much more. We guarantee no blisters, no frostbite, but lots of insights and plenty of laughs!

About the speaker: Michael Dillon AM has won more awards in adventure and expedition documentaries than any other individual worldwide. He has climbed four of the Seven Summits, walked across deserts and tracked gorillas in the war-torn jungles, travelling with his camera from the Himalayas to the Andes, Antarctica, the Arctic, the Pacific and Africa.

US Emmy nominated, Australian Logie awardee and AFI award winner, Michael is one of Australia’s leading cinematographers and adventure filmmakers. He has made seven documentaries with Sir Edmund Hillary, including Beyond Everest, which won five international awards, and filmed Australia’s first ascent of Everest unsupported, without bottled oxygen and via the North Face route.

Michael was awarded the inaugural Australian Geographic Silver Medallion for Excellence in 1986, is the first recipient of the Australian Geographic Spirit of Adventure Award and is the first Australian to win the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award.
