Patagonia is one of the world’s great walking and trekking regions, defined by wind-sculpted mountains, vast icefields and a powerful sense of remoteness.
Whether on shorter walks or longer trekking routes, time on foot is the best way to understand the scale and character of the region.
Spanning southern Chile and Argentina, it offers a range of experiences suited to different fitness levels, from achievable day walks to demanding multi-day treks.
Patagonia is shaped by nature - big skies, shifting weather and wide-open space. Hike through landscapes shaped by glaciers and weather. Trails wind beneath the dramatic spires of Torres del Paine, follow valleys below Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, and trace the edges of the Southern Patagonian Icefield.
Our Patagonia adventures include both iconic routes and quieter, lesser-travelled paths. Options range from guided walks with comfortable accommodation to more remote wilderness treks that involve longer days and variable conditions.
Explore our Patagonia walks and treks and discover one of South America’s true paths less travelled.

Spanish (official), Italian, English, German, French, indigenous languages (Mapudungun, Quechua)
Spanish is most definitely the national language, although here it is spoken with several different regional accents, and includes many borrowed words from other languages, in particular Italian. Many different European languages (and dialects/accents within those) can be heard throughout the country, especially Italian, which is still widely spoken in Buenos Aires.
A curious lingua franca called Lunfardo developed in Buenos Aires towards the end of the 19th century, composed of many different languages including Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German and different African languages. Lunfardo was developed as a common slang language by the city’s criminal underworld, and was then picked up by lower classes, then spread to all classes from the start of the 20th century. The language can often be heard in the lyrics of tango music.
