Nestled between Russia, Georgia, Armenia and Iran at the crossroads between Eastern Europe and the Middle East, you’ll find a remarkable country that’s visited by few from the West. Azerbaijan might not yet be on your radar, but that’s about to change. Offering a heady mix of ancient architecture, cultural treasures and varied landscapes, this is one of our most rewarding and underrated destinations.

While technically landlocked, Azerbaijan sits on a generous stretch of the Caspian Sea. It’s here that you’ll find the dynamic capital of Baku, with its gleaming modern architecture, leafy shopping streets and World Heritage Listed medieval city centre. A walk among the stunning stone monuments of Baku Old City reveals the country’s complex history, with Zoroastrian, Arab, Persian, Ottoman and Russian influences evident in the Old City’s beautifully-preserved medieval walls, mosques and minarets.

Among the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, the World Heritage Listed site of Gobustan is an open-air rock art gallery capturing more than 40,000 years of human habitation. This precious natural and cultural landscape comprises inhabited caves, settlements and burial sites, along with an incredible collection of more than 6,000 individual rock artworks.

And some 300 km west of Baku, in the lush foothills of the Greater Caucasus mountains, you’ll find the beautiful city of Sheki. Once a wealthy trading stop along the Silk Route, Sheki’s World Heritage Listed town centre features historic merchant houses, caravanserais and the impressive Summer Palace of the Sheki Khans.

Take a look at our new Azerbaijan, Georgia & Armenia Explorer itinerary and be one of the lucky few to explore this exciting region!

Our all inclusive approach

Our trips offer great value for money, taking in the country's highlights through guided walks and visits to ancient buildings. We aim to incorporate as many inclusions as possible in the trip cost such as most meals, quality accommodation, transfers and site entry fees.

Experienced local guides

It's our expert field guides that make your Georgian experience special. The guides are highly experienced and have strong local knowledge and a love of their country that they are always eager to share.

Reducing waste

Our Waste Management Policy encourages our travellers to take their own reusable water bottles, coffee cups and reusable stuff sacks to avoid single use plastics.

Supporting local

In the regions that we travel tourism is the main source of income for many local people. We support them by only working with local family run hotels and suppliers so your money supports the community that hosts you.

Hotels

In cities or large towns you will be accommodated in 3 to 4 star properties that are centrally located, atmospheric and reliable.

Visas

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Azerbaijan. You can apply for an electronic visa (e-visa) for single entry, 30-day stays. Do this online through Azerbaijan's State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 3 months from the e-visa's expiry date. For other situations, contact your nearest Azerbaijani embassy or consulate.

If you plan to stay in Azerbaijan for over 15 days, you must register with local police. Do this within 15 days of arrival. If you don't, you'll be fined and may have trouble leaving the country.

If you are a citizen of a nation that isn’t included in the e-visa agreement you will need to apply through your embassy/consulate.)
