A scenic 130km drive from Puerto Natales brings us to Baguales Glamping, with stunning views of Sierra Baguales. After settling in, there’s time to take in the vast surroundings and prepare for the riding days ahead. The evening is spent meeting the team and enjoying the quiet atmosphere of this remote setting. Accommodation: Baguales Glamping or similar (Private domes, with twin or double. Always shared rooms unless the single supplement is paid) Please note: Arrival transfers can be arranged from either El Calafate or Punta Arenas for an additional cost, please request at time of booking of relevant costs.

Today focuses on meeting the horses and settling into the rhythm of riding. Your gaucho guide matches each rider with a suitable horse before a relaxed introductory ride across rolling grasslands and open hills. The day builds confidence in the saddle while introducing the landscapes that define Patagonia. Accommodation: Baguales Glamping or similar

Leaving the estancia behind, we ride deeper into remote terrain toward the striking Las Chinas area. Wildlife is often spotted along the way, including guanacos, condors and foxes, with vast views opening toward the Torres del Paine massif. The sense of isolation grows as we arrive at a remote estancia, far from any roads. Accommodation: Las Chinas or similar (Twin or double bed, 2 people per room)

Today’s ride crosses rivers, open plains and quiet valleys on the way to the vivid blue waters of Laguna Azul. The landscape feels expansive and raw, with wild horses sometimes visible across the grasslands. The day ends beside the lake, framed by wide skies and distant peaks. A long and rewarding riding day takes us into the heart of Torres del Paine National Park. Riding across varied terrain, we pass forests, rivers and open valleys with continuous views of mountains and glaciers. The scale of the park is immense, and the journey showcases some of its most spectacular scenery. In the afternoon, we farewell our horses and transfer to our lodge near the Río Serrano. Accommodation: Pampa Lodge or similar (twin share rooms with private bathroom)

A final morning 4 hr ride brings us toward Lago Grey, where the landscape opens toward the Southern Patagonia Ice Field. After farewelling the horses, we continue on a scenic 3 hr boat journey to Grey Glacier, drifting past towering ice walls and floating icebergs. This dramatic finale offers a powerful perspective on Patagonia’s glacial wilderness. Accommodation: Pampa Lodge or similar

Glamping in Sierra Baguales

Tucked deep in the wilderness, the camp offers four exclusive domes - each equipped with a private ensuite bathroom, hot shower, and panoramic views of the rugged Sierra Baguales.

What we require

Most of our horse treks require R2 Intermediate as a minimum.

R1 · Beginner

You have been on a horse a handful of times. You can get a horse walking, steer it and stop it, and you can rise to the trot for a short stretch. Canter is either new to you or something you are still working on. Not suitable for our multi-day horse treks.

R2 · Intermediate

You are in control of a socialised horse at walk, trot and canter outside in a natural landscape and you can get on and off without help. You may not ride every week, but you don't need to think about riding basics. You have ridden in this environment several times in the past year.

R3 · Strong Intermediate

You ride regularly now, out in open country rather than in an arena, and six or more hours in the saddle doesn’t worry you. You can rise or sit to the trot, hold a canter without gripping the saddle to stay put, and stay in control on a horse that would rather go faster - over uneven ground, with other horses around you. Recommended experience level for most horse treks.

R4 · Advanced

You ride often, you’re fit, and you have an independent seat and quiet hands. You can control a forward-going or spirited horse at every pace, across rough and unpredictable country, and you’re comfortable galloping in company.

Can you get on and off a horse without help or a mounting block?
Have you ridden at least six times in the past twelve months?
Can you hold a rising trot for ten minutes without stopping?
Are you happy to canter in open country, in a group, on a horse you’ve never sat on before?

Fewer than four, talk to us before you book.

Your declared level is what your handler uses to choose your horse, and a mismatch can’t be fixed three days into the steppe. If you’re between levels, or coming back after time out of the saddle, call us.

Every departure date advises whether the date is confirmed, and roughly how full it is. Here is what each one means.

Is the departure confirmed?

Guaranteed to go This departure has reached its minimum number and will run.
It is the point travellers should wait for before booking any non-refundable flights.

Close to guaranteed This appears only when a date is close to reaching minimum numbers. If it shows 1 or 2 to guaranteed, book as a pair on a date needing two and it reaches its minimum. Your booking confirms the date for everybody already booked.

How full is the date I am looking at?

Space is filling or Space is filling fast This date has bookings and places are still open. Filling fast means limited spots available, so don't leave your decision too late.

Closing soon Down to its last few places, or close enough to departure that we are finalising numbers. Still bookable online.

Closed Not bookable online - either full, or inside the notice we need to arrange permits, flights and logistics. Ask us anyway, you never know!

Will this trip actually go ahead, or could it be cancelled?

If a date shows Guaranteed to go, it runs regardless of further bookings.

What does 2 to guarantee mean?

It means two travellers are enough to confirm the departure. It could be 2 more to add to the group, or the date only needs 2 people to run. Either way, if you book for two people, the date will become guaranteed to run.

What happens if my departure does not reach minimum numbers?

You will know the status before you book. Every date on this page is labelled, and dates marked “Guaranteed to go” are running regardless of further bookings. Where a date has not reached its minimum we either offer a surcharge to operate for a smaller group size so it can still run, or we cancel it. We contact you directly either way.

Will I get my money back if you cancel a departure?

If we cancel a departure due to not meeting minimum trip numbers, you receive a full refund of everything you have paid us less any non recoverable costs, where insurance may cover you. We cannot refund money committed elsewhere – additional non refundable deposits advised at the time of booking, flights, visas, vaccinations, gear - which is why it is worth waiting for “Guaranteed to go” before booking other arrangements around this trip date. Please read our Booking Terms and Conditions before you book.

Why can't I book some dates online?

Each trip closes online a set time before departure. Permits, internal flights and hut or campsite bookings all have to be arranged before we take payment. Call or enquire as it might still be possible to organise last minute places.

The date I want is closed. What are my options and why does it say to enquire?

Cancellations happen and places do open up on closed dates, so it is worth being on our list. We can also tell you which nearby date on the same trip has space, which is usually the faster route.

None of these dates suit me. Can you run this trip on another date?

Yes, as a private departure. We can run this trip on a date you choose, for your own group - family, friends, a club, or in many cases, just for the two of you. Tell us when you want to travel and who is coming, and we will build it around that.
