México was as thrilling as I had hoped. The trip was designed well to provide a window on its great diversity. It was perhaps 2 days short of being optimal, in view of long overland transportation and limited hours in some destinations. The discontinuity in group guide and communication detracted from the trip.

Local guides were great and very informative. However, not sure that contractor in Mexico was not overly helpful.

This was a very worthwhile trip. We saw a lot of southern Mexico, with a journey of 1500 miles. We visited many meso american sites, Palenque, Uxmal, Chichen Itza, but also saw a lot of the country. Going by car though a long journey was much better than flying as we saw a great deal more.

Mexico is an amazing destination. So much history and culture to discover. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Only complaint was I didn’t realise the size of Mexico so we did spend a lot of time travelling

My wife and I went on the Highlights of Mexico adventure. Our guide had many years of experience and his knowledge and love of his country came through in all that we experienced with him. We have many wonderful memories from our trip and would highly recommend it. We intend to go back to Mexico again and visit new places as well as going back to some of our favorites on this one.

Absolutely. Solo travellers are welcome to book their own journey or book to join a departure, and will join shared guided activities throughout the trip. Many travellers choose to participate on their own, and the itinerary offers a supportive environment where you can meet others while still enjoying your own space. A single supplement will apply if you prefer your own room on group departures.

The trip is designed for travellers with a good level of general fitness, but it does not require technical skills or experience. Most activities involve walking through archaeological sites, exploring towns on foot and joining guided cultural visits. There are some early starts and warm weather in parts of Mexico, but the pace is steady and balanced. If you enjoy full days of exploration without demanding physical challenges, you will be comfortable on this trip.

Mexico has a range of climates and you will experience several during this journey. The highlands around San Cristobal de las Casas are generally cooler, especially in the mornings and evenings, while the Yucatan and Caribbean coast are warm and humid year round. The rainy season runs from May to October and usually brings short afternoon or evening showers rather than all day rain. From December to February the evenings can be cool in elevated areas. Light layers, sun protection and a rain jacket will help you stay comfortable across all regions.

Safety is a priority throughout the trip. The route follows well established tourist areas and you will be accompanied by experienced local guides during scheduled activities. As in any major city or popular destination, standard travel awareness is recommended, such as keeping valuables secure and avoiding isolated areas at night. In rural regions and archaeological sites the environment is calm and welcoming. Transfers are included so you do not need to navigate transport on your own, and our local team in Mexico provides 24 hour on ground support and contact if you need assistance.

Breakfast is included each day at your accomodation, and a few lunches are provided during key experience days. Dinners are at your own expense so you can enjoy the local cuisine at your own pace and taste. Mexico offers an incredible variety of regional dishes, from simple street market style meals to delicous sit down seafood meals on the coast and traditional Maya flavours in the highlands. Vegetarian options are available in most destinations, although choices may be more limited in smaller towns. Access to drinking water is reliable and bottled water is widely available.
