Overview

This short Annapurna trek is the perfect Himalayan escape for first time trekkers seeking big mountain views without the demands of high-altitude trekking. In just a few days, you’ll journey through peaceful villages, terraced fields and rhododendron forests alive with birdsong, all set beneath the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

At just 3,200 metres (10,499 feet) at its highest point, this itinerary offers an accessible adventure for first-time trekkers or those easing into multi-day hiking. You’ll enjoy the comfort of our exclusive Eco-Comfort Camps and eco-lodges, carefully positioned in scenic locations to showcase stunning mountain sunrises and peaceful Himalayan evenings without the crowds.

Unlike longer, more strenuous treks, this journey allows you to experience the heart of the Annapurnas in less than a week on the trail, making it ideal for travellers short on time but big on experience. We’ve designed the Annapurna trekking route to avoid the busier commercial paths and instead follow quieter trails that offer a more authentic glimpse into life in the mid-hills of Nepal.

World Expeditions has been crafting Himalayan adventures for nearly five decades, and our expertise ensures every detail is handled with care. Our safety-first approach includes trained guides, a well-paced itinerary, and all meals prepared by our dedicated crew. We provide a complimentary Trek Pack—complete with a quality down jacket and sleeping bag—and our Eco-Comfort Camps add an extra level of comfort with raised beds, clean linen and a relaxed camp atmosphere.

With return flights between Kathmandu and Pokhara included, this short Annapurna trek delivers maximum reward in minimal time. It’s a smart and deeply rewarding way to experience the beauty of trekking in Nepal.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest or explore the surrounding area. The Annapurna in Comfort trek was fantastic. My second time with World Expeditions in Nepal. Great organisation from day one with the tour and additional hotel bookings. Transfers were smooth. Good briefing before the trek.

On the trek our guides and cooks and strong boys supporting us were all fantastic. We were well looked after, and World Expeditions looked after them. Tents, eco lodges, food, transport was all great.

The Annapurna in Spring is a pretty place, with great views of the mountains along the trek. Having done Everest base camp previously in the Autumn, this Annapurna trek is a great contrast in scenery and less physical challenge for an older person.

I would certainly recommend this tour if you want to experience trekking in Nepal but not the higher altitude passes and base camp experiences.

We really enjoyed the trip, the fixed camp and lodges were great and the views fantastic. The region was much quieter than The Everest region. Nema, our leader was really good, looking after us and making sure everything was okay. The walking was on good tracks/paths with only one long day going down all day on steps (poles a must!)

Loved our trip! Especially waking up to the majestic mountains of Annapurna with a cup of tea, the thoughtful pace of our trek, and the yummy dinners to set us up for another day of trekking.

My wife and I had a wonderful trek in the Annapurna region. We are both 80 but fit and the route was designed to be less exacting than on our last visit to the same area. This allowed ample time to look at the flowering Rhododendrons and other flowers, chat to villagers and savour life as lived in the Himalayas.

Breathtaking views as we trek down towards Thame | Monika Molenda
Restoring Learning in Thame Project

Restoring access to digital education through the installation of a computer lab and smart classroom technology, helping rebuild learning opportunities for students affected by climate-related disasters.

In Nepal's Solukhumbu region, the remote mountain village of Thame is recovering from a devastating Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) that destroyed homes, infrastructure, and critical community services — including the local school and its computer lab. With students displaced and relocated to temporary learning facilities, access to quality education has been severely disrupted, particularly in digital learning.

The Rebuilding Digital Education in Thame project aims to address this gap by equipping the newly relocated Thame Basic School with a computer lab, smart boards, and essential digital infrastructure. This will enable students and teachers to access modern, technology-enabled education in one of the most remote regions in the world.

With support from the World Expeditions Foundation, this project will fund the installation of computers, smart boards, printers, and classroom infrastructure to support both students and teachers. The outcome? Improved digital literacy, more engaging and interactive teaching, and equitable access to education for a community rebuilding after disaster.

The project is led by Himalayan Trust Nepal, a long-standing organisation working closely with local communities, schools, and government partners to deliver sustainable education and development outcomes across the Khumbu region.

Meals at our Exclusive Eco-Comfort Camps

Did you know that meals on a 2 week tea-house based trek in Nepal could cost you in excess of US$800pp?! Value for money, peace of mind, looking after your health as well as the local landscapes are just some of the reasons why we believe it’s a wise decision to choose a Nepal trek with all meals included. Watch our ‘7 Reasons Why We Include Meals On Our Nepal Treks’ video below to learn even more.

The Tranquility Spa, within the Radisson offers massage, reflexology, steam room and sauna, plus many beauty treatments for your enjoyment - as a World Expeditions client you will receive a 30% discount off the retail prices on any treatment at the Spa. You can book these services through the Radisson while you are in Nepal.

Our groups stay at the comfortable Radisson Hotel when in Kathmandu | Peter Walton

Radisson Hotel - Kathmandu

In Kathmandu we stay at the comfortable, well located Radisson Hotel. The Radisson Hotel is situated in Lazimpat, a quiet and central area of Kathmandu. Only a short 12 minute walk to the main tourist district of Thamel, the Radisson acts as a base for World Expeditions travellers. The hotel has a World Expeditions tour desk in the foyer, free WIFI, a pool and bar, restaurants, room service, currency exchange and free luggage storage whilst you are on trip.

Meals are fully included on our Nepal treks so you stay properly fuelled for the journey. Trekking, particularly at altitude, burns a huge number of calories each day, and we believe good food is essential to maintaining energy and enjoyment on the trail.

On a typical two-week tea-house trek, buying meals along the way can cost well over US$800 per person. Some companies appear cheaper by not including meals. By including all meals, you actually save both money and time while also knowing every day’s food is taken care of by your own trek cook.

Your groups trekking cook and kitchen crew will prepare fresh, hearty meals with careful attention to hygiene and nutrition, and there is always plenty available - seconds are always welcome. At our Eco-Comfort Camps, many meals also feature vegetables grown in the camp gardens, bringing fresh produce to some of the most remote trekking routes in the Himalaya.

We can cater for most dietary requirements - talk to our team to learn more.

Use of essential equipment is included in your trip cost | Tim Charody

If you don’t trek regularly, investing in specialised gear for a single adventure can be expensive. Quality equipment designed for high altitude and cold conditions is essential, yet we see many trekkers in Nepal with gear that might look suitable, but will not be effective in many Himalayan conditions.

To save you hassle, and money, we provide the use of a World Expeditions Trek Pack including a quality sleeping bag, down or fibre-fill jacket and a cosy fleece sleeping bag liner. At our Eco-Comfort Camps we even supply an extra blanket. You receive your Trek Pack at the start of your trip, use it throughout your trek, and can pack it into your World Expeditions souvenir kit bag when travelling on the trail.

Just as importantly, it supports your safety and comfort. Staying warm at night and getting proper rest (along with good food) are critical to maintaining energy and enjoying your trek in the Himalaya.

Flight to Lukla | Lachlan Gardiner

Flights between Kathmandu and Pokhara are included on many Annapurna region adventures and are arranged by our team so your group travels together.

During the busy trekking seasons flights can book out quickly, so early booking helps ensure we can secure the services needed for your trek.

This short flight connects Nepal’s two main aviation hubs using larger aircraft with frequent daily departures, making it more reliable than many mountain airstrips.

The flight itself is a highlight, with spectacular views across the Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh and Langtang ranges on clear days.

By booking early, we can organise the flights to Pokhara in advance, which simplifies trek logistics so you can focus on preparing for the trek ahead.

The season typically runs from late September (Autumn) to early May (Spring). This is when the skies are generally clear and the weather is stable. Spring is especially beautiful, with rhododendrons in full bloom in the forests.

No technical experience is needed. Annapurna is an excellent choice for first-time trekkers, with trails at lower altitudes, shorter walking days, and a gentler pace compared to Everest. This comfort-style trek is designed to offer a rewarding Himalayan experience with added ease.

If you’re new to trekking in Nepal, Annapurna is often the better place to start. The trails are at lower altitudes (below 4,000m / 13,120ft), the walking is gentler, and the scenery is more varied - from lush forests and terraced fields to views of 8,000m peaks like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. You’ll also enjoy rich cultural encounters with Gurung and Magar communities along the way.

This trek focuses on comfort and accessibility. By staying at lower altitudes, using our Eco-Comfort Camps, and keeping walking days shorter, it’s designed to be a softer introduction to Himalayan trekking. You’ll still enjoy the dramatic mountain views and rich cultural encounters, but in a more relaxed and supported way.

You’ll only carry your daypack (approx. 6–8kg / 13–18lb) with daily items like water, camera, rain jacket, and snacks. Your main gear is carried by porters.

Your trek duffel (provided) should not exceed 15kg (33lb).

Yes - any extra items not needed on the trek can be safely stored at the group hotel in Kathmandu.

Yes - all accommodation is twin-share in both lodges and Eco-Comfort Camps. If you'd prefer your own space, a single supplement is available at an additional cost (subject to availability).

At higher altitudes, especially at night and above 2,000m (6,560ft), temperatures can drop below freezing. Expect mild to cool days and colder nights. We help keep you warm with high-quality gear and Eco-Comfort Camps that include a heated dining area.

At our Eco-Comfort Camps, you’ll find Western-style sit-down toilets. Lodge toilet styles can vary, but many now also include Western-style options.

Yes, you’ll enjoy outstanding views of Annapurna South (7,219m), Machapuchare (6,993m), Hiunchuli, and other peaks in the Annapurna range. The trek passes through lush forests, traditional villages, and terraced fields, offering a rich mix of mountain scenery and cultural encounters.

You'll stay at a comfortable hotel in Kathmandu, and while trekking you’ll overnight in our Eco-Comfort Camps and carefully selected lodges. Camps feature a heated dining area, sit-down toilets, and cosy rooms to ensure a higher level of comfort.

Yes, charging is available in most lodges, often for a small fee. Carry fully charged spare batteries and a solar charging pack as backup.

This trek stays at lower altitudes, with the highest point being around 2,500m (8,200ft) in the Annapurna foothills. The risk of altitude sickness is therefore very low. Our itinerary is paced with gradual ascents to ensure your safety. Guides are trained in first aid and carry a medical kit. Portable Altitude Chambers (PAC) are only carried on treks that go above 4,000m. Oxygen is not used on our treks. If symptoms persist, descent is required.

Our trek is graded Introductory to Moderate (3). Days can involve up to 6 hours of trekking, with some ascents and descents. This itinerary has been designed to be more relaxed, with shorter walking distances and added comfort, making it a great choice for first-time trekkers.

Yes - with World Expeditions, all meals are included while on trek. Our cooks prepare fresh, hearty meals each day, using safe food-handling practices, to keep you well-fuelled and healthy. In Kathmandu, breakfast is included, but other meals are at your own expense so you can explore local dining options.

No - we provide one. A warm sleeping bag, liner and down/fibre jacket are included as part of your trek package.

You won’t need to invest in expensive gear you might only use once - we include essentials like a quality sleeping bag, down or fibre fill jacket and sleeping bag liner. Once you’ve booked, we’ll provide a detailed gear list outlining exactly what you need to bring.

  • Sleep greener at our sustainable Eco-Comfort Camps, which feature added homey comforts like raised beds, clean linen, mattress and pillow
  • Pioneering Porter Policy: we supply our porters with food, accommodation and clothing on trek (including wind/waterproof jackets, boots and more) and the same medical care as our trekkers, plus other benefits including insurance and a good working wage
  • Camping based treks employ more local people, which spreads the financial benefits of tourism further into the community
  • Receive a souvenir World Expeditions kit bag
  • Enjoy a more cultural experience by interacting with your support team in our Eco-Comfort Camp environment
  • Save money and hassle with our inclusions: all meals on trek prepared by our dedicated cooks plus hot drinks and unlimited water, 5kg extra baggage allowance on internal flights and use of a Trek Pack (quality down jacket, sleeping bag and more)
  • Safety measures include a well-paced itinerary with extra days for better acclimatisation, expert wilderness first aid trained guides equipped with medical kit
