Celebrating 45 years of pioneering adventures

Join our special anniversary treks to the Everest region

2020 is going to be a big year for us. It will be:

  • 45 years since we first laced up our hiking boots and hit the Himalayan trails in 1975.
  • A decade since we were the first company to offer a fully-supported commercial traverse of the newly-mapped Nepal Great Himalayan Trail,
  • 25 years since we developed a trip for travellers that involved them in community projects across the globe, being the first Australia tour operator to do so.

To celebrate our 45th year of offering BIG adventures with a small footprint, we've launched four exclusive departures in November 2020 for our Everest Base Camp, Gokyo and Renjo La, Everest Circuit and Everest Trek trips – with a slight twist.

  • Join mountaineering legend Tim Macartney-Snape and a mystery special guest, at a memorable banquet dinner celebrating our 45th birthday!
  • Enjoy extra days admiring the Everest region.
  • Take a special tour of the Tibetan Buddhist monastery of Thyangboche and have an exclusive meeting with the ‘Ringpoche’ (Head Monk).
  • Plus, AUD$100 from the trip cost will be donated to the World Expeditions Foundation with another AUD$100 matched by World Expeditions.

Whether you're after an introductory sampler to the Everest and Khumbu region with fantastic viewpoints of the world's highest peak, the classic base camp trek to Everest with a sublime climb to Kala Pattar, or a comprehensive expedition in the Everest region with two high pass crossings that include the best of Everest Base Camp and Gokyo, join our special Himalaya anniversary treks listed below today.

Trekking in the Everest Region with World Expeditions

Porters are an integral part of the World Expeditions philosophy and style of travel. We take our travellers off-the-beaten track, avoiding the congested trails, to experience remote tent-based adventures … this style of trekking is enabled by porters. Porters are as important to us as our travellers. Without them, we would not be able to run our quality programs. When we trek, the entire group - travellers, guides and porters alike - are a team who share the same needs for safety in the mountain environment. Check out what benefits we provide our porters to ensure their safety, welfare and wellbeing. Are you choosing between a teahouse trekking trip and our camp-based treks in Nepal? Here’s why you should consider our Eco camps in the Everest and Annapurna regions. Did you know that meals on a 2-week tea-house based trek in Nepal could cost you in excess of US$800pp?! A quality trek in Nepal should include all your meals while on trek. It's not just a value for money reason, it also helps protect the local landscapes and your own health while on trek. Why worry about carrying excess cash and looking for a decent meal at the end of a long day on your feet when you could sit back and enjoy what you came for - the glorious Himalaya. Watch this video to learn the seven simple reasons we choose to include meals in all our treks in Nepal. Find your Nepal trek at https://goo.gl/vYxKjb 'Tim is an amazing guy. He knows Nepal like no one else I can imagine. I've been a hiker and a climber and a mountaineer for my whole life but I've never really been in the mountains with somebody quite like Tim, ' Jim, trekker on the Gorakh Himal Exploratory trek with Tim Macartney-Snape. An exploratory trek with Tim is like no other trekking experience in Nepal. Heading to remote, unexplored places that seem like 'blanks on the map, where it's possible that no western trekker has ever been before, is what Tim - and those who keep returning to join him - revels in. If this sounds like your type of adventure then head to our website to discover where Tim is planning to explore next. https://worldexpeditions.com/Trekking-Exploratory Packing a suitcase and heading off to unknown lands satisfies our urge to take a break from our everyday routine, discover new cultures, reconnect with nature, stretch our boundaries, relax and unwind and then return to our lives feeling refreshed. But there’s more to travel these days. Today, travel also affords us with the opportunity to: - protect the environment - contribute to communities in need - advocate against animal cruelty - take action to protect vulnerable children - support sustainable development and preserve - the world’s many rich and diverse cultures By travelling responsibly, we can return to our lives feeling satisfied that our travels have left a positive impact. World Expeditions has been creating innovative adventure itineraries since 1975. Our commitment to sustainable travel was formed when the company was first established, and today, in the face of a multitude of threats to the environment and societies, our commitment is stronger than ever. Creating genuine sustainable adventure itineraries often translates to real costs, which means that a raft of responsible tourism practises underpins our prices. By integrating these practices into our itineraries we enable our travellers to be ‘responsible travellers’. Conserving environments and cultures takes a united front, which is why we produce this Responsible Travel Guidebook. It’s a reference tool for our travel industry partners, employees and travellers, outlining our company wide initiatives, and it gives guidance to travellers about how to be ‘responsible travellers’. If you’ve spent any time trekking, you’ll know that one of the most exciting rewards is a comfortable, clean and relaxing place to stay at the end of a hard day’s trek! With World Expeditions, our campsites located on the trail in the Everest and Annapurna regions are a unique and sustainable approach to adventure travel and sustainable tourism. These semi-permanent campsites come complete with spacious tents, comfortable beds, thick mattresses, composting toilets, and basins, and dining rooms that use eco-friendly heating, not to mention stunning and spectacular views over the Himalaya! World Expeditions eco campsites provide comfort and warmth, privacy and superb views, all with minimal cost to the environment and contributing economic benefit to the local community!
