Our Northern Grampians Deluxe Walk begins at Mount Zero and explores Mount Stapylton, continuing on to the Waterfalls for Gar, Briggs Bluff and Beehive Falls, to name just a few iconic landmarks. On the way, we’ll experience ancient indigenous rock art, scramble to incredible 360-degree views, and feel dwarfed by the scale of the landscape.

Each day, transfer back to your private, off-grid eco-lodge and, after a hot shower, enjoy a glass of local wine and sample some local Grampians produce before dining on a banquet-style home-cooked feast.

Day 1
Welcome to your eco-lodge

Arrive at our eco-lodge anytime after 5pm. Once the whole team has arrived we will enjoy a welcome drink over a briefing that covers the plan for the next few days and updates on the weather. Afterwards, we will enjoy our first dinner as a group and the rest of the evening is yours to relax and get to know your new friends.

Day 2
Mt Stapylton, Olives, Rock Art and Wine (12.5km)

A short transfer will take us to the very northern end of the Grampians Peaks Trail where we’ll begin our walk. From the Mount Zero picnic area we will pass through the Stapylton Amphitheatre and be dwarfed by one of Victoria’s tallest and steepest rock climbing walls. We’ll exit the amphitheatre and have the option for a very scrambly ascent to the summit of Mount Stapylton. It’s quite a scramble with some exposure to heights, so this side trip may not be for everyone. On return, we’ll continue southward on the GPT until we turn off to Staypleton campground where we will be met by our bus for a late lunch at Grampians Olive Co. We will then visit Ngamadjidj rock art shelter, enjoy a tasting at Staypleton Wines and then head back to the eco-lodge to relax before dinner. Walking Distance 12.5km | Ascent 450m | Descent 490m

Day 3
Waterfalls of Gar, Briggs Bluff and Beehive Falls (16km)

A 5-minute shuttle brings us back onto the GPT to start our day’s walk. The dramatic scenery continues as we’re dwarfed again by giant sheer cliffs and explore newly rediscovered seasonal waterfalls. The high point of today’s walk is an optional side trip up to Briggs Bluff – offering an epic 360-degree view of the Northern Grampians and the Wimmera Plains. We’ll then backtrack slightly before turning off to Beehive Falls and then walk back into the front of the eco-lodge. Walking Distance 16km | Ascent 600m | Descent 600m

Day 4
Ancient Art and one last mountain (2.4kkm)

Our last day is a good time to reflect. We’ll take a short drive to visit an indigenous art site and continue our discussions on the cultural landscape we have been walking through, then take one last hike up Hollow Mountain for a view back over our first day’s walk. Depending on the group and weather conditions on the day, an alternative walk may be organised e.g. Mount Zero. We will then transfer back to our eco-lodge for a final debrief over lunch and departure around 1pm. Walking Distance 2.4km | Elevation 155m

Exclusive Eco Lodge

On this journey we will be spending 3 nights at our exclusive off-grid eco-lodge nestled right in the middle of the northern section of the Grampians National Park. The lodge is fed by mountain spring water and powered by the sun. You will be staying in either double or twin bedrooms, with all linen and towels supplied and hot showers available. If you're a solo traveller, you will be required to pay for a single supplement to have your own room as we do not pair up solo travellers.

Off-grid living

During downtime at the lodge there is ample room to rest and relax, inside or out. The eco-lodge is truly off-grid, there is very limited phone service at the lodge and there is no wifi connection. We encourage guests to disconnect from technology during their stay and instead connect with the people around them and the place they're in.

60 minute full body massage

Book a full-body massage and add a little more luxury to your Deluxe Walk. Delivered during the afternoon downtime, on-site at our Eco-Lodge by The Solar Outpost. A seamless mix of relaxation and remedial massage. Each treatment starts with a warm cup of tea, gentle music and aromatherapy. Each individual treatment is crafted for you. Before your treatment, you decide what you want more of. Dedicate more time to your shoulders, feet, facial massage or arms.

Expect a wide range of terrain

The Grampians Peaks Trail traverses the Grampians National Park from north to south and is split into 3 main sections known as the Northern Section (4 days, 3 nights), Central Section (5 days, 4 nights) and Southern Section (4 days, 3 nights). The area traverses a wide range of different terrains including rugged rocky mountains, valleys, ridge-lines alongside abundant flora and fauna.
