This adventure takes place on WADANDI Country. We acknowledge their enduring connection with this Country, as they are the traditional custodians of this land, and we journey in respect of their Country.

Beginning at Cape Naturaliste in the north, the Cape to Cape Track meanders through windswept limestone ridges, deserted white beaches, giant granite marbles, and towering Karri forest to finish up at Cape Leeuwin in the south.

The Margaret River Region is renowned internationally for stunning scenery, world-class beaches, gourmet food, and fine wines.

Your walk includes stunning and wild coastal landscapes, physical challenge and new friendships, without carrying a heavy pack.

Experience the finest local produce from The Common Bistro, Vass Felix Estate, The Brewhouse, Cape Grace Winery, and our in-house catering company, Cape to Cape Moveable Feast.

Our professional, local guides have extensive knowledge and experience interpreting the natural beauty of the Track. We’ve been hiking, surfing, fishing, and foraging in this local environment all our lives – Nobody knows the local spots, local stories, local food and local wildlife better than us!

Itinerary

On arrival please make your own way to Quality Hotel Ambassador Perth (196 Adelaide Terrace, Perth CBD). This evening you will have time to explore Perth before heading back to the hotel and enjoying a relaxing evening before starting your trek tomorrow. Overnight: Quality Hotel Ambassador Perth

Meals: Nil

Enjoy a buffet breakfast at your hotel before your morning pick-up from Quality Hotel Ambassador Perth in the Cape to Cape Explorer Tours’ transfer vehicle at 7.40am. We will stop one hour into the journey, giving you the opportunity to grab something to eat & drink and/or use the bathroom. You will then head out to Cape Naturaliste to meet your guide for the day to begin your first day of hiking the track. Please note that you will need to have your water bottles filled and your pack ready for the hike. After the hike you may have the opportunity for a quick swim at Yallingup Lagoon, then we will have some nibbles at Yallingup before returning to our accommodation for a delicious house-made dinner. Please bring a swimsuit and change of clothes in your day pack if required.

Meals: B,L,D

Pick up from your accommodation: between 7:30am or 8am From Yallingup, pass over the granite headland at Torpedo Rock and on to the fabled Smith’s Beach. After Smith’s Beach the topography changes quickly as giant granite marbles dominate near Canal Rocks. Travel high over the ridge and past Rotary Lookout, before dropping back down on to the beach at Injidup. Ascend over the ridge again, meandering through coastal tee tree and back onto the wild southwest facing coast. Weave through stunning areas of limestone cliff and granite before walking through the stunted vegetation and granite fields of Moses Rock. There are great swimming opportunities today, be sure to pack your swimsuit! Eat in tonight with a delicious, fresh meal from Cape to Cape Moveable Feast. Please give us as much warning as possible if you are considering a half day. HALF DAY OPTION: Begin hiking with the group for the first 7km, and get picked up from Wyandup at approx. 12:30pm.

Meals: B,L,D

Pick up from your accommodation: 7:30am or 8am The track rises high over several large limestone headlands before flattening out on Wilyabrup Beach. A wonderfully constructed staircase then guides walkers up and onto the stunning sea cliffs that form the famous climbing buttresses of Wilyabrup Cliffs. After passing the cliffs, the track drops back down onto the beach, passing the famous, though severe, surfing breaks of Gallows and Guillotines. The coast then turns decidedly rocky as it ducks and weaves over picturesque granite boulders and finally into the pretty hamlet of Gracetown. Relax here and enjoy an afternoon swim to sooth the muscles and mind. After the day’s walk we drop in for a personalised wine tour and cheese platter at a boutique winery in the Margaret River Region. Eat in tonight with a delicious, fresh meal from our catering team Cape to Cape Moveable Feast.

Meals: B,L,D

Pick up from your accommodation: 7:30am or 8am Beginning at the picturesque hamlet of Gracetown, follow the low coastline to the historic settlement of Ellensbrook. From Ellensbrook, the track quickly leaves the coast and meanders through sand dunes and past Ellensbrook homestead and Meekadarabee Falls. Visit the isolated coves of Gnoocardup and the turquoise bay of Kilcarnup. Marvel at the centuries-old osprey nest in Horseshoe Bay and then take in some of the world’s finest surfing coastline at Prevelly. Tonight is a free night to unwind by heading out to a local restaurant at your own expense, either on your own or with the rest of the group should you choose. We recommend The Common bistro, conveniently located a short stroll away. Please give us as much warning as possible if you are considering a half day. HALF DAY OPTION: Get on the bus with the group in the morning, and get dropped off to Ellensbrook. The rest of the group will walk to meet you from Gracetown, while you relax or explore the old homestead. Toilet facilities are available here. Then join the group for the 14.5km into your accommodation.

Meals: B,L

Pick up from your accommodation: 7:30am or 8am From the limestone ridge at Prevelly you will head down into the sheltered creek line of Boodjidup Brook. Continue on and experience the white sands of Boodjidup before reaching historic Redgate Beach. Next is very likely one of the best sections of the Cape to Cape Track: the scenic coastal cliffs at Bob’s Hollow and Contos. Enter the majestic Karri forest, home to the world’s third tallest hardwood. A longer day, but the solid track under foot and afternoon shade of the karri forest makes it all seem easy. We will stop for a brief cave experience this afternoon. Eat in tonight with a delicious, fresh meal from Cape to Cape Moveable Feast. If you plan on indulging in a massage during your week with us, tonight is a good opportunity. Please give us as much warning as possible if you are considering a half day. HALF DAY OPTION 1: Relax this morning, and get picked up at 10.30am to be dropped to Redgate where toilet facilities are available. You will join your group for morning tea when they arrive and then walk 15km to Boranup Forest. HALF DAY OPTION 2: Walk 15km from Gnarabup to Contos campground and wait for the afternoon pick-up (approx. 2h wait) then relax this afternoon.

Meals: B,L,D

Pick up from your accommodation: 7:30am or 8am Start amongst the tall karris of Boranup Forest, home to an array of wildlife and wildflowers in season. Head south, back into the coastal heath, and down onto the stunningly beautiful Boranup Beach. 7km of sand walking later, find the protected Hamelin Bay, home to some of the Cape's friendliest stingrays who love a feed of freshly caught fish! Continue on past the many islands and headlands through the coastal heath and past Foul Bay lighthouse until you arrive at the stunning Cosy Corner. This afternoon we stop to have a look at the Margaret River and eat dinner nearby at local microbrewery, The Brewhouse. Remember to pack a jacket or jumper. Please give us as much warning as possible if you are considering a half day. HALF DAY OPTION: Walk 16km this morning with the group, and finish at Hamelin Bay after Boranup beach. Wait here for the afternoon bus to collect you on the way to collect the rest of the group from Cosy Corner (approx. 2h wait).

Meals: B,L,D

Pick up from your accommodation: 7:30am or 8am The last leg of the Cape to Cape Track faces more into the south than the rest of the coast. True wilderness with limited road access the sights are reserved for the local hooded plovers and you. Granite headlands are broken up by long sections of shoe-sucking sand. Formidable, but every step takes you closer to the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse and the moment of celebration. After a hot shower back at your accommodation, meet at Surfpoint Resort where we share a fantastic slideshow of the last seven days. Then tuck into a celebration fish barbeque dinner with seasonal salads provided for you by our catering team and a selection of wine from the Vasse Felix Estate. NON-WALKER OPTION: as there is no half-day option today, if you choose to not walk today at all, it is possible to join the group at Cape Leeuwin lighthouse.

Meals: B,L,D

Pick up from your accommodation: 8 or 8:30am If you are staying at Margaret’s Beach Resort, please have your catering box packed for collection by your driver at 8am. They will then drop these boxes off at SurfPoint Resort, collect the rest of the group and return to pick you up at approximately 8.30am. Depart for the city via the Margaret River Farmer’s Market in the Cape to Cape to Cape Explorer Tours Bus. You will depart the farmer's market at 9 or 9.30am after about a 30min visit so please order coffees first before exploring the rest of the markets. Between 1pm-2pm you will arrive in Perth where you can either be dropped at the airport (first drop-off) or at the Quality Hotel Ambassador Perth in the CBD (second drop-off). Your guide(s) will coordinate drop-off points with you the evening prior.

The walk and guides were lovely, however the accommodation needs some TLC, the rooms were a little tired and not the cleanest. If I had been aware that I was going to need to do my own dishes every morning and night I might have opted to stay elsewhere, for the $$ we were paying. Also the communal kitchen wasn't great, I saw lots of people putting away dishes that they hadn't washed properly. I strongly recommend getting a couple of industrial dishwashers for the kitchen.

All aspects of the guided trip were excellent. From the food, accommodation, transport and especially the knowledgeable friendly guides made for a wonderful memorable experience. The scenery was great but the knowledge of the track by the guides added a demension you wouldn't get if self guiding.

An outstanding product. Loved the way they incorporated a theme for each walking day, a different guide each day as well and nice surprises during or after day's walk.

The Cape to Cape has lots of wildflowers and whales can be spotted just off the coast in Spring.

Each day we had a different excellent guide who specialised on that section.

Day 3 was like walking in thru a botanical garden with lots of plants endemic to this area.

Lunches provided were excellent, a couple of dinners were at a restaurant and other nights we had fresh meals that we heated up.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable.

The walk was very scenic often with coastal views, there is some beach walking where the sand is soft. While I loved the beach walk sections, some found them tiring.

This walk is part of the Great Walks of Australia, an exclusive collection of Australia’s leading guided multi-day walking experiences.

Great Walks of Australia was established to showcase the country’s most exceptional walks, each operated by experienced companies that meet high standards for guiding, safety, environmental responsibility and overall guest experience.

While many multi-day walks now exist across Australia, the Great Walks of Australia collection represents the original group that helped define the modern guided walking experience.

Being recognised as a Great Walk of Australia means the walk offers outstanding natural landscapes, a carefully designed itinerary and expert guiding, while maintaining a strong commitment to protecting the environments you walk through.

The track runs mostly along the coast. It makes use of old 4WD vehicle tracks, constructed paths and natural beach sections which are mostly sand. Approximately 15-20% of the walk is on the beach, or around 15-20km overall, with the rest being a mix of cliff tops, coastal heath and forest.

We recommended that you have a reasonable level of fitness for this trip. Walking distances range from 14km to 26km per day, and you will walk carrying a day pack (weighing around 5-7kg). Thorough physical and mental preparation is important for your safe participation and enjoyment of this expedition. As with any active holiday, the fitter you are for the activity, the more you will enjoy it. In short, fitness enables you to do more, see more and simply relax more.

Your tour includes 1 night of accommodation at the Quality Hotel Ambassador in Perth on the first day of your tour, with the evening at your leisure (dinner not included). You will be picked up from the hotel at 7:40am on Day 2.

We run the trip in Autumn (between March to May) and in Spring (September to November). During these months we have the best chance of nice, sunny days without it being too hot as there is no shade along the track. In Spring you will see lots of wildflowers. April and May tend to have the best weather but there are no wildflowers at that time. The water is still warm though so you can still go for a swim at that time. Rain can occur at any time of year. The average temperatures in the months that the walk runs are as follows:

Mar: 13 min - 26 max

Apr: 11 min - 21 max

May: 10 min - 19 max

Sep: 8 min - 18 max

Oct: 9 min - 19 max

Nov: 11 min - 23 max

Yes, SurfPoint Resort offers complimentary access to the on-site laundry room to guests from 3pm daily where you can wash your personal clothing if needed. Laundry powder will be provided if you use the laundry facilities.
