Botswana Walking Safari in Photos

Travellers Jez and Ros took a set of amazing photos on our Botswana Walking Safari in September. The safari holiday explores on foot the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, and Savuti region of Chobe National Park. Overnighting in campsites and a safari lodge, travellers are taken on foot by our local guides to explore the wetlands, channels, islands and lagoons on their Botswana safari.

Upon returning to the UK, Jez and Ros sent us their photos of the Botswana safari and allowed us to share them with you as well. Which one is your favourite?

Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta in Botswana is the world’s largest inland Delta. The Okavango River empties onto the sands of the Kalahari Desert. The Okavango is home to an abundance of wildlife and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Elephants, buffalo, hippopotamus, wildebeest, giraffe, lion, cheetah, and leopard can all be found here. The park is also home to hyena, kudu, antelope, and both black and white rhinoceros. A unique way to discover this impressive wetland of Botswana is on a walking safari combined with mokoro (canoe) trips. Jez and Ros had a once-in-a-lifetime experience on such a trip and made this incredible incredible video of it.

Accommodation on the Botswana Safari

On our Botswana Walking Safari, we mix it up at night with a variety of campsites. Sometimes this means wilderness camping with basic facilities and sometimes this means sleeping in an exclusive private tented bush lodge. The variety of overnight options most certainly will add to your Botswana safari experience.

Savuti (Zwei Zwei) region of Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park, in Botswana’s northwest, was the country’s first official national park. Original inhabitants were the San bushmen, a nomadic people who moved constantly in search of food. Original San paintings can still be found inside rocky hills of the park. The park is best known for its number of Kalahari elephants. On your Botswana safari you're also likely to spot lion, hyena, antelope, wildebeest, warthog, hippopotamus and zebras. The area’s bird life is also prolific with more than 450 species recorded in the park.

Spotting Wildlife

The wilderness areas of Africa are populated by large numbers of wild and potentially dangerous animals. World Expeditions aims to view these animals in their natural habitat, uncontrolled by fences. Your experienced guides will make every effort to ensure the safety of the group at all times. By travelling into wild areas in search of wild animals, you are choosing to go on an adventure of a lifetime!
