Immerse yourself in the highlights of Colombia and discover a destination teeming with historical insights and natural wonders. Our adventure begins in the capital city of Bogota where we take in the colonial and baroque architecture found in La Candelaria and visit Bolivar Square. Climb the 1,200 steps to reach the Lost City of Teyuna, enjoying spectacular jungle scenery on a four day trek. Colombia’s Lost City, ancient ruins high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, is a breath-taking treasure that was once home to a thriving civilisation. Still considered hallowed ground by the indigenous tribes nearby. Our journey ends in the Caribbean beach resort city, Cartagena of the West Indies, with its colourful districts and wonderful beaches. Discover historically rich Cartagena and walk its meandering cobblestone streets of the walled city and take in the sights of centuries-old fortresses and churches, a fitting end to our time in Colombia.

You will be met on arrival in Bogotá and transferred to your hotel. Overnight: Hotel Casa Deco or similar.

We start our visit with a cable mounted on the 'Cerro Monserrate' (3,150m). We discover the Basilica of Santa María la Cruz Monserrate built in 1650. The panoramic views of the valley and the city are unique. We continue walking and discovering the heart of the city and the neighborhood of La Candelaria with its wonderfuly preserved colonial streets. We visit the 'Plaza Bolivar', where we can find the National Capitol, the Palace of Justice, the City of Bogotá, 'Primada' Cathedral, the Chapel 'Del Sagrario' and the Archbishop's Palace. We explore the neo-classical façade of the Colon Theater and the beautiful church of Santa Clara. We conclude with a visit to the Botero Foundation generously donated by the great Colombian painter, which contains, in addition to works by Botero, 85 paintings by the great Impressionist masters. Then Botero Foundation and Casa Moneda… A must see for its religious reliquary monstrance of the eighteenth century that weighs 5 kilos of gold and precious stones. After the breakfast in the hotel, we go to the airport. Assistance to check in and fly to Santa Marta. The remainder of the day is free to relax and explore. Overnight: Hotel Tamaca Beach or similar.

This morning at 8:30am depart Colombia's oldest city, Santa Marta for La Aguacatera’s sector, where we change the van for a 4WD that will take us to El Mamey where we have lunch. After lunch we set out for the first camp, and in its surroundings we´ll find rivers, natural pools and waterfalls to have a relaxation moment, and then we have dinner and spend the night in hammocks. This evening an indigenous guide will talk to you about the history and customs of his community. He will also be able to teach you some phrases in dumana language and give you information about the region. Overnight basic camp with hammocks Note: You'll be carrying everything you need for the trek in your small back pack and leaving your main luggage in Santa Marta. Your backpack should be fully adjustable to your body type, where in addition to water, you can carry your clothing and personal items. Horses will be used to transport some luggage. On the 3rd day on the way to the lost city you leave your belongings in the camp and go for one night with the basics (one long cotton pants, one long sleeved shirt, your camera and your insect repellent). Walking approx 5 hours.

The day begins and we have an early breakfast, we start our trek to the Muteyzhi indigenous community. The trek takes from 5 to 6 hours. At Muteyzhi we will have the opportunity to interact with the indigenous people and discover the local way of life with our local guide. After another hour of trekking we will arrive at the second camp, where, among other activities, we will be able to enjoy a crystalline river. This evening the guide will narrate stories and traditions from his community. Overnight basic camp with hammocks Walking approx 5-6 hours.

Early in the morning we have breakfast to start climbing up 1,200 steps to our main destination, a trail constructed by Tayrona people to reach the beautiful Lost City. Once we arrive our guide will show us everything related to this magical place full of relics and ancestral stories, we’ll spend the morning enjoying the scenery with enough time to relax, finally we’ll have lunch at the third camp and then return to the second camp for dinner and to spend the night. Overnight basic camp with hammocks Walking approx 6 hours.

The last day of this adventure begins with the breakfast at the camp to then continue the way back to the point where it all started. During the walk we’ll find rivers and waterfalls to have refreshing breaks. Finally we reach El Mamey, where we’ll have lunch and our 4WD car will pick us up to go back to Aguacatera’s sector where we transfer to a van for the drive to Santa Marta arriving around 5:00 p.m. completely delighted of a lifetime experience in the magic Sierra Nevada. Overnight: Hotel Tamaca Beach or similar. Walking approx 4 hours.

This morning we depart Santa Marta to Cartagena by road. Cartagena encapsulates all the charm of Spanish colonial architecture, the republic period and today, the attractions of intense night-life, cultural festivals, exotic scenery,superb beaches, and wonderful food. Walk the streets and discover the Spanish colonial buildings including the Palace of the Inquisition, the Clock-Tower and the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas. Eating out is another form of entertainment in Cartagena, with countless choices of new and exotic flavors in local and international styles. Overnight the Don Pedro de la Heredia or similar.

Today we will undertake a walking tour of Cartagena and discover the history of the main harbour of the Spanish empire on the American continent, its colourful districts, and the San Felipe Fortress at sunset. Built in 1536, the fortress holds a commanding position on the Hill of San Lázaro and was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. Take advantage of the possibility to buy handmade 'mochilas', traditional bags made in cotton and virgin wool, traditional shirts in cotton called 'guayaberas', jewellery and emeralds. This evening is free to further explore Cartagena and soak in the history of this masterpiece of colonial architecture. Overnight the Don Pedro de la Heredia or similar.

The journey concludes with a transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
