From lush eastern rainforests and central highland plateaus to the dramatic sandstone canyons of the south, this remarkable island is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, striking landscapes and distinctive culture shaped by both African and Asian influences.
This 11-day guided adventure journeys through Madagascar's spectacular national parks, where you'll walk through the montane rainforests of Ranomafana National Park in search of the rare Golden Bamboo Lemur, Giant Bamboo Lemur, colourful chameleons and other endemic wildlife, continue across the granite domes and mountain prairies of Andringitra and Tsaranoro Valley, and explore the sculpted sandstone canyons, palm-fringed oases and natural swimming pools of Isalo National Park.
With rewarding walks graded introductory to moderate, comfortable accommodation, private vehicle support throughout, and opportunities to experience local markets and the traditional Antaimoro paper workshop, this itinerary brings together rewarding walks, endemic wildlife and rich cultural traditions in a journey through Madagascar's spectacular national parks.

Overall an enjoyable trip as we were fortunate to see a number of Lemurs and the weather was good. Surprised that we did not see a lot of the endemic plants on this trip and not much bird life.
We both thoroughly enjoyed this trip with World Expeditions; not only did we see so many wonderful animals, insects but also able to visit some local villages. This trip was an eye-opener about the ‘real’ Madagascar but also show-cased so much of the beauty!! Highly recommend this.

The Unique Madagascar trip was an incredible experience from start to finish. We learned so much about this country, and the tour provided an excellent way to travel, learn, experience a little bit of this beautiful island.
An amazing experience unlike any I've had before. The trip was well organised and led by our guide Liva through the country. I was initially concerned by the considerable driving in the trip but in reality this was great as you see so much on the road and you have to drive far in Madagascar to see the best sights. The accommodation and food was good; the people, scenery and animals amazing!
Most memorable part: walking in the national parks (seeing lemurs and chameleons) andvisiting local villages and markets.
What a great trip we had and have nothing but praise for World Expeditions and how our Guide Lova and our driver Deva looked after us. We had so much fun with them. Accommodation and food was all good. Vehicle was good and managed those terrible roads really well. The National Parks are something and the local guides that were chosen there were excellent. We were given lots of chances to walk and explore the villages and anything of interest along the highway.

You will know the status before you book. Every date on this page is labelled, and dates marked “Guaranteed to go” are running regardless of further bookings. Where a date has not reached its minimum we either offer a surcharge to operate for a smaller group size so it can still run, or we cancel it. We contact you directly either way.
If we cancel a departure due to not meeting minimum trip numbers, you receive a full refund of everything you have paid us less any non recoverable costs, where insurance may cover you. We cannot refund money committed elsewhere – additional non refundable deposits advised at the time of booking, flights, visas, vaccinations, gear - which is why it is worth waiting for “Guaranteed to go” before booking other arrangements around this trip date. Each trip closes online a set time before departure. Permits, internal flights and hut or campsite bookings all have to be arranged before we take payment. Call or enquire as it might still be possible to organise last minute places.
Cancellations happen and places do open up on closed dates, so it is worth being on our list. We can also tell you which nearby date on the same trip has space, which is usually the faster route.
Yes, as a private departure. We can run this trip on a date you choose, for your own group - family, friends, a club, or in many cases, just for the two of you. Tell us when you want to travel and who is coming, and we will build it around that.
This journey combines Madagascar's eastern rainforests, central highlands and southern sandstone canyons in one itinerary, exploring Ranomafana, Andringitra and Isalo National Parks while blending rewarding walks, endemic wildlife and meaningful cultural experiences.
Each national park offers different wildlife experiences. Ranomafana National Park is home to the rare Golden Bamboo Lemur, Giant Bamboo Lemur and colourful chameleons, while Andringitra and Tsaranoro Valley are known for ring-tailed lemurs and Isalo National Park provides opportunities to see lemurs, chameleons and other endemic wildlife.
This trip is graded Adventure Touring and includes introductory to moderate walks, generally lasting 3–5 hours on most days. A reasonable level of fitness and regular walking before departure will help you enjoy the trip.
Yes. Your journey is led by an experienced English-speaking local guide, with specialist local guides joining in Ranomafana, Andringitra and Isalo National Parks to share their knowledge of the region's wildlife, landscapes and culture.

Africa's wildlife is wild and unfenced. On many wildlife safaris you may meet them on foot, or from a vehicle. Walking in big-game country carries some risk, and the safeguards are not the same in every country.
Rules on firearms, guide qualifications, group size and how close you may approach an animal are set country by country, park by park. Many incorrectly assume that every wildlife safari in Africa travels with an armed ranger. Several countries prohibit firearms outright. Where an armed escort is required, it is supplied by the park authority.
What is consistent is how these trips operate. You walk in a small group with a professional local guide who knows the country and the animals in it. We do not include captive or hands-on wildlife encounters in any itinerary.
