The board members volunteer their time to operate the project, while the financial management is handled internally by the World Expeditions finance team. With this structure, there are no administration fees.

Accountability

World Expeditions Foundation is audited annually by an external independent auditor.

WEF recognises that transparency in reporting and accountability is paramount to the success of the Foundation. Prior to, during and at the completion of a project, we ask that our partners complete the following reports:

    Criteria for Project Selection

The WEF Board of Directors chooses projects based on the following criteria:

    • Does the community receive inadequate government funding?
    • Is the project based on a real local need and is it suggested by the local community?
    • Is the project ongoing and long lasting?
    • Is the project funded and/or constructed jointly with local people? This type of engagement allows a transfer of skills, ensures longevity and encourages the community to ‘own’ the project.
