When you have decided for your upcoming holiday destination to be Nepal, usually the next step is to select that one trip that will best live up to your expectations. With the large offer available of holidays that include some form of trekking in Nepal, sometimes navigating all the options can be daunting. Besides the dates and duration of the trip, there probably are many other factors that will be important to you.

We wanted to try and help you with that, so here are 10 reasons to choose your trek in Nepal with us:

Trained Guides

We have a long-held philosophy that our operations throughout the world should be managed and operated by the people of the host country, in this case Nepal. By training and empowering our guides, we are able to create positive employment opportunities and secure income for them. At the same time, you hugely benefit from the authentic experience that they deliver. We’re very proud of our staff and guides and, judging by all the positive feedback we receive on Nepal, so are our past travellers.

Medical Kits

A medical kit travels with every group and on all trips, should the need arise. Naturally, our guides have received first aid training.

portable altitude chamber on treks in Nepal

On all trips that take you to 4,000m and beyond, we carry a PAC – Portable Altitude Chamber. This assures you that when needed, we can quickly treat you for high altitude illness. The PAC is an Australian product and is a lightweight hyperbaric chamber that can be easily carried by our porters.

No Supplements for Solo Travellers

If you are joining one of our adventures as a solo travelling person, we’ll match you with another traveller of the same gender and you won’t be charged anything extra. If you however want a guaranteed single occupancy, we can also arrange that for a small additional charge.

10 Pieces Litter Project

Helping tidy up walking trails in Nepal through the 10 Pieces litter collection initiative.

As founding partners of the 10 Pieces litter collection initiative, we aim to help keep the trails in Nepal litter free. On our treks in Nepal, we ask you to sign up to collect ten pieces of paper or plastic that you find on the trail each day. Your crew will collect the litter at the end of the day and dispose of it responsibly. Leading by example, your actions educate mountain communities that litter is not aesthetically desirable and is also detrimental to health of wildlife and humans alike.

Porter Protection

Mountain porters are an integral part of each trekking or mountaineering adventure in Nepal. Taking you off the beaten path means that we use the self-sufficiency of camping, a style of trekking that is enabled by mountain porters. On a trek or climb, the entire group – travellers, guides and porters alike – are a team who share the same needs for safety in the unpredictable mountain environment. Our Porter Welfare Code of Conduct ensures safe working conditions for the mountain porters we employ in Nepal.

Healthy & Hearty Meals

Food and Drink on Everest Base Camp Treks

Unlike most other organisations, as part of the trip price you get a full meal service with us. There are important reasons for this as it lowers the risk of you getting sick on trek: with your assigned cook, we ensure that your food is prepared using strict hygiene stands so you’ll stay healthy and eat well. The price of meals in tea houses or lodges across the Himalaya invariably costs around $45 per day, often with limited food choices and a lot of fried food. Those meals are cooked on wood stoves, which contribute to the depletion of forests that are under threat. We only ever use kerosene or gas for all our cooking needs.

Quality Equipment

What to pack for Everest Base Camp Treks

When you join at the starting city for your trek in Nepal, which usually is Kathmandu, you’ll be issued with a trek pack which is free for use during the duration of your trip. Meaning you don’t have to carry these items from home and that you don’t have to make the investment yourself. A typical trek pack includes

  • A duffle bag: your personal belongings carried by our porters during the trek
  • A down jacket: repels the cool Himalayan evenings and mornings
  • A sleeping bag: warm sleeping bag to keep you cosy at night
  • And a sleeping mat: on mobile tented treks some insulation and padding.
