In Kenya’s game reserves, national parks and remote regions, you will stay in comfortable 3 to 4-star safari lodges and tented camps that reflect the character of their surroundings.
Many properties are set in scenic locations and may feature amenities such as swimming pools, private verandas or expansive views over the landscape, offering a relaxed base between wildlife experiences.
Permanent safari camps offer the feel of a tented hotel room, allowing you to experience the African wilderness without sacrificing comfort.
You will stay in well-appointed 3 to 4-star tented camps that reflect the character of the region, typically featuring proper beds, ensuite bathrooms and thoughtfully designed communal areas set within the natural environment.
In Kenya, camping is offered in two styles: fully supported or semi-participation. Both use quality two-person tents set up in scenic wilderness locations.
Fully supported camping means your crew manages all camp logistics - tents are erected and dismantled, meals are prepared, and group equipment is handled for you, allowing you to focus entirely on the experience.
Semi-participation camping involves shared camp responsibilities. You may assist with pitching your tent or simple camp tasks, while your guides and crew coordinate overall camp operations and meal preparation.
This type of accommodation features in our Classic Adventures range.
In cities or large towns in Kenya, you will stay in centrally located, comfortable and reliable 3 to 4-star properties on a twin share basis.
On selected treks in Kenya, accommodation may be in simple mountain huts or communal dormitories with basic shared facilities.
These provide practical shelter in remote areas and are chosen for their location along established trekking routes.

We have a long-standing policy of camping rather than using hotels. Many hotels in Kenya do not follow true sustainability practices and it is common for them to use firewood cut from World Heritage areas to provide energy for tourists. When we do stay in lodges, we ensure that they adhere to our strict responsible tourism guidelines.
Our trips avoid tourist shops and commercial villages, encouraging travelers to purchase handicrafts direct from artisans.
We employ local guides who report all injured, snared or ill wildlife spotted to the local rangers. Additionally, they utilise various safari routes to ensure that the tourist footprint is lessened.
Kenya offers vast savannah landscapes, wildlife-rich national parks and dramatic mountain scenery, with the best regions to explore including the Maasai Mara, Mount Kenya, Amboseli, the Great Rift Valley and the Kenyan Coast.
Maasai Mara: The Maasai Mara’s sweeping plains host extraordinary wildlife migrations across one of Africa’s most famous safari landscapes.
Mount Kenya: Mount Kenya rises above forested slopes and alpine valleys offering challenging trekking routes on Africa’s second highest mountain.
Amboseli National Park: Amboseli’s open plains provide iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro alongside abundant wildlife.
Great Rift Valley: Kenya’s section of the Great Rift Valley reveals lakes, volcanic landscapes and remarkable birdlife.
Kenyan Coast: The Indian Ocean coast combines coral reefs, historic trading towns and white sand beaches.
The best time to travel to Kenya for wildlife viewing, hiking and adventure touring is generally June to October, when cooler temperatures and dry conditions make exploring national parks more comfortable.
Kenya has a varied climate influenced by altitude and geography, ranging from warm savannah plains to cooler highlands. Temperatures typically range between 10°C and 30°C (50°F–86°F).
The rainy seasons bring greener landscapes and dramatic skies across the savannah. While wildlife can be more dispersed, this period offers vibrant scenery and fewer visitors in many areas.
