Bhutan re-opened: Why travel with us in 2022

Good news! The Kingdom of Bhutan, the world’s only carbon negative country, has officially re-opened on 04 July without the need for a 5-day quarantine on arrival. It's therefore the green light to restart our trips to Bhutan for the coming season.

However, the Bhutanese government has also announced the introduction of a new Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), which will soon see the per day entry costs into Bhutan jump from US$65 to US$200 per day per person. The extra monies raised will be used by the Bhutan government to continue its carbon negative programs.

Fortunately, we had locked in all our 2022 Bhutan adventures dates which means if your booking on any of these departures is confirmed by 27 July, 2022, you are exempt from the new fee. We still have a few spots available. Experience Bhutan's pristine conditions when the season begins in September. 

ENTERING BHUTAN

Like many other countries re-opening to the world since they closed during the pandemic, there are currently some ‘Test-and-go’ rules that apply to enter the landlocked country; 

• All travellers must be vaccinated 
• You must show proof on arrival of vaccination or evidence of infection within the 6 months prior to arriving 
• You must take a PCR test on arrival 
• All travellers must quarantine for 24 hours, or until the PCR test returns as negative 

Should your PCR test come back as positive you will be asked to quarantine for 5 days.

HOW YOU CAN STILL AVOID the fee increase

It is still possible to beat the price hike if you travel on one of our scheduled 2022 Bhutan adventures and have your booking confirmed before 27 July.
